Come and enjoy making music at Darla’s Piano Place! Whether your child is placing their hands on the keys for the very first time, or you are an adult student experiencing or returning to a lifelong passion, lessons are tailored to help every pianist flourish!
At Darla’s Piano Place, music education goes beyond simply reading notes on a page. The goal is to build a strong musical foundation while compassionately and patiently nurturing a genuine, lifelong love for playing. My goal is to make lessons fun and productive ~ it brings me such joy when students smile or laugh during a lesson.
Through the curriculum, you’ll develop essential techniques, musical theory, ear training, and expressive performance skills – all in a dynamic and comfortable environment.
I taught piano in my home at Darla’s Piano Place in Illinois for 18 years, instructing between 6 and 40 students. (40 was too many! Uff-dah!)
In 2025, I returned to Minnesota, my birthplace, having played piano for 60 years. I grew up in a very musical family and began lessons at age 4. Currently, I often play preludes or offertories at Maple Ridge Church in Maple Grove, enjoying playing for my Lord and church family!
“Learning piano with Mrs. Darla was one of the most amazing things that happened to me…I know that any of her future students will feel the same joy I felt going to her house every Thursday and learning how to play piano!”
“She is very personable. Friendly. Brings down topics to students level!! Good teacher!!”
