At Darla’s Piano Place, music education goes beyond simply reading notes on a page. The goal is to build a strong musical foundation while compassionately and patiently nurturing a genuine, lifelong love for playing. My goal is to make lessons fun and productive ~ it brings me such joy when students smile or laugh during a lesson.
Through the curriculum, you’ll develop essential techniques, musical theory, ear training, and expressive performance skills – all in a dynamic and comfortable environment.
I taught piano in my home at Darla’s Piano Place in Illinois for 18 years, instructing between 6 and 40 students. (40 was too many! Uff-dah!)
In 2025, I returned to Minnesota, my birthplace, having played piano for 60 years. I grew up in a very musical family and began lessons at age 4. Currently, I often play preludes or offertories at Maple Ridge Church in Maple Grove, enjoying playing for my Lord and church family!
